Steps to reproduce:
click on youtube's "watch video in fullscreen button" when watching a video.

Expected behavior:
I expect video to stay in same space and be fullscreen within the browser window like in firefox. Youtube's fullscreen button should NOT act like macOS's fullscreen green light button. No matter what Safari does. Safari did it wrong. Also I expect there not to be a red flicker every few seconds.

Orion 0.99-122beta, macOS Mojave.

Yeah, this happens in Safari, too. It’s so irritating! I don’t generally use Spaces since I’ve never needed them, so it was really disorienting trying to get back to the full-screen video after tabbing away. It would be nice to have an option to not operate like Safari in this case.

This is my first week of Orion and I've set up and really enjoyed using it so far, but I do wish there was an option/extension for YouTube's fullscreen to behave like Firefox/Chrome too. I usually scroll through the comments when a video is in fullscreen on Firefox, plus the animation for going fullscreen there feels a bit smoother too, but I know that's a personal opinion. I know Google added it a few years back but then promptly removed it but I wonder if there's anyway to get that functionality on Orion?

Ian A lot of Orion users come from Safari and prefer the way full screen is handled which is like in Safari. That puts us in an awkward position as even if we had the resources to commit to changing this (which is at webkit level) there would be a group of users that will be unsatisfied - unless we added an option in settings, but if this is an option they you can imagine settings having thousands of options like this.

So we chose to follow the standard set by Safari, which is the reference browser by the manufacturer of the OS we are all using, but also a solution that WebKit ships with.

This is not to say that this will never happen, but just to manage expectations.

Vlad Hey i appreciate it! I was never intending to suggest it be entirely changed for everyone but thought an extra option for users to switch could be nice, I know you can choose between either mode in about:config options in Firefox. I understand the argument of options clogging up settings though, and I know it's not a prioritized change so Im not fretting, I'll probably get used to the way fullscreen works on Orion quick enough. Either way appreciate the work you guys put into the browser!
