After tapping on a link to view an app in the App Store from Gmail, Orion opened up but was unable to open either the App Store website or launch the app, saying that the link was an “unsupported URL.”

I tried with App Store open-in-app setting turned both on and off, and I tried this link in Safari, which successfully opened the App Store page for the app.
