It would be handy to have shortcuts for the following:

  • Move the current tab left (say Ctrl+Shift+Left)
  • Move the current tab right (say Ctrl+Shift+Right)
  • Pin current tab (say Ctrl+Shift+.)

P.S: Looks like a similar feature raised before by someone has been deleted/closed. So raising a new one.

I believe the best would be ctrl+(Shift+)tab on a Mac as that’s what Firefox (and chrome) uses. Option+tab makes sense in my head, but that’s already a global hotkey I think

Ctrl is used for other page shifting in macOS like ctrl+L/R for different desktops, so that’s another reason

Duplicate tab by option+mouse drag would also be a great addition

njohnathan I think you are talking about changing the focus of current tab. I am talking about moving the tab or changing the tab order. So I am not sure tab would make sense. Tab makes sense if you want to switch tabs (eg Ctrl Tab and Ctrl Shift Tab).

Or have I misunderstood your suggestion?

njohnathan Actually, a command palette usually Cmd+Shift+P in most apps (like in Vs Code or sublime text) would help quickly searching for command and actions in cases when assigning a shortcut is not easy. Not sure if a feature request has been made for a command palette.

BO yes you are correct I misread your post at first. I still agree that your idea is a useful one, but the hotkeys you’ve suggested are the standards for changing tab focus on both Firefox and chromium, so I think they would be better served that way

I think you are using Windows which is why you are relating Ctrl+Shift+Left to switching tabs. On Mac, generally it is Cmd+Alt+Left. But yeah whatever the key combination is, we need the functionality first and we can assign shortcut we want.

BO on macOS, Firefox and Chrome/Chromium use ctrl+tab for next tab & ctrl+shift+tab for tab back/left. Safari/Orion (WebKit?) use cmd+opt+arrow keys allows you to move through tabs (you have just taught me this)

Yes, I agree that regardless of what the key combo you use, functionality first, and allow customization of hotkey. Personally I use a macro, so I don’t really care what the combo is as long as one can be set

Thank you very much, I really hated that I couldn’t use a keyboard shortcut to move through tabs on safari and Orion, but you have taught me there is one. I even searched multiple times before and couldn’t find it. I don’t know why

Duplicate tab with opt+drag is the next dream, but it isn’t the most pressing issue for the team in sure

njohnathan ctrl + tab works in Orion (and Safari afaik). Orion even has MRU mode for tabs (most recently used order, you can enable this in Settings)

                    Vlad ok I’ll try it… I don’t know why I thought it didn’t work

                      No one is typing
