Safari has a “Find in Page” shortcut when you type into the address bar. I would like to see Orion add this as well, since I have developed muscle memory to Safari’s shortcut.

    Vlad Yes, I can.

When I type into the address bar in Safari, it offers an option to search on the page. Orion does not have this feature, although I just found out about the favicon menu that has a “Find in Page” option while looking for Compatibility Mode (which I couldn’t find; new user here).

    Orion, for comparison:

iamnomad Is Find on page through favicon menu enough? (it is also in the share/action menu). If not where would you put that in your orion screenshot where suggestions seem to take the entire page.

Vlad I guess the favicon menu would be good enough. If my suggestion does get implemented, it should be in the same place as Safari, right under the search suggestions.

The search bar at Safari can also be used as a search bar for a specific word on a web page as shown in the figure.
This would be a great added value for Orion.

Merged 1 post from Search for text in Safari with iPhone find on page implemented for Orion.

Vlad So you would rather have find on page then your bookmarks or history? It sounds unusual as this feature is very rarely used (IMO)?

I understand it's not self-explanatory for everyone but if you want to find something quickly and efficiently it's easy if
you can just click on the search bar (not the favicon) and then search for the specific word through this bar. Just by one click. Or maybe the top bar can be customizable so that you can add icons from the favicon menu right or left from the search balk. Or just by right-clicking from the search bar that they find on the page will be getting active to avoid too many icons on the screen.

wesvr What you are suggesting are also two taps - one on address bar and one on find on page. Orion requires exactly two taps too?

                  Brief Summary
Allowing a user to search in a site just like how they would in Safari.

                  Details:
A user would enter the search bar, enter the term they are looking for on the site and then they would scroll down in the search list to look in the site to find for example, a page from an large index

The search on the page should be accessible more quickly, for example via the search bar as integrated in Safari

With fewer clicks, the search is accessible

Sometimes by the time I locate the “find on page” button (I often mistakenly click the general-purpose overflow menu) I forget what I was searching for. It’s just for a second — no big deal — but this never happens when using the URL bar shortcut, which lets me “get the search out of my system” as soon as possible.

Why not both? I had no idea you could search from the URL bar in Safari, after 10 years of use. So discoverability is better in the current Orion implementation

carl Agree re:both. Not sure I get the discoverability comparison. Safari’s “find on page” is an option in the share sheet, easily discoverable.

Just like safari I’d like searching in the address bar to show results on the webpage

Just type search term in address bar and show “results on this page” at the bottom
