  • Unable to update to release 0.99.122 (Unable to fetch latest update)

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Orion
  2. Click "Orion" in the menu bar
  3. Click "Check for updates..." in the dropdown
  4. Receive "You're up-to-date" even tho you're not.

Downloading the OrionInstaller from the website again does not solve the problem either. Still ends up on 0.99.121.1.

Expected behavior:
It should update to the latest version 0.99.122 (Nov 25, 2022), but it does not seem to find it from the servers.

The issue might be related to the new CDN that Orion started using (https://cdn.kagi.com/).

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Orion 0.99.121.1-beta
MacBook Pro M1 Pro (macOS Ventura 13.0.1 build 22A400)

Image/Video:

BECH changed the title to Unable to update to release 0.99.122 (Unable to fetch latest update) .

It looks like my 0.99.121.1 version is sending a request to https://browser.kagi.com/updates/13_0/appcast.xml to get the latest version.

The response of this only returns https://browser.kagi.com/updates/13_0/121.1.zip as the latest version - even tho the release notes suggests that release 0.99.122 is out.

      My thoughts
Could it be something with the minimumSystemVersion: 13.0 where the latest version 0.99.122 is not in that 13_0 folder?

      EDIT:
The version 0.99.122 does exist in the 13_0 folder - but for some reason not showing up when you send the request to get the latest update. Check my latest reply for how to update manually.

I managed to update manually by downloading the latest version from https://browser.kagi.com/updates/13_0/122.zip

Then simply extracting the zip and replacing my current Orion application with the one from the zip.

Now im running the latest version (0.99.122) and is up to date!

Was a glitch on our CDN, should update now fine. Thanksfor reporting.
