Always on Status Bar

"Modern" browsers have all gotten rid of the status bar, or made it a temporary overlay when hovering a link. I've always hated that, and miss the days when you could get more than links there. A progress bar, a filesize for HTML, an actual current opertions status... Can we make a permanent status bar?

What I'm referring to is that UI's are now dynamic and context driven. They look and act differently based on what you are doing. I prefer things to be explicit vs implicit. Instead of a temporary window with the URL that pops up if you hover over a link, I want a dedicated space at the bottom where that info will always appear.
In addition, past browsers have used that to display:
Page loading times
Image size
Security info (HTTP vs HTTPS and TLS versions)
Internet Connection quality

Please specify what execatly you want it shown, in what context, in what order ie do not make us think.

We don't tend to work on open-ended feature suggestion as we already have hundreds of well specified asks on the site.
