CPU usage when watching videos on YT is high compared to Chrome, to the point where it heats up significantly and turns on the fans. Chrome runs passively on the other hand. I tried manually turning off all the extensions, which has almost no effect. Compatibility mode has a limited effect to the point where it heats up less, but still more than Chrome. I am running the latest Orion 0.99.121-beta on latest build of macOS (13.0) on M1 Pro 14 inch MacBook Pro. My expected behavior is that it should consume less power, because it ran fine for the past couple of months. If you need me to send logs somehow or something like that, let me know. It started occuring after Orion crashed a couple days ago.

I have the same issue. It seems like YouTube's code related. And it doesn't reproduce in Safari
    Orion:

    Safari:

    Macbook Pro 16 M1 Pro / macOS Ventura 13.0
    Orion Version 0.99.121-beta (WebKit 614.1.20)

Same issue, also on Orion 0.99.121-beta (WebKit 614.1.20) and MacOS 13.0. It looks like the YouTube interface changed a little bit between yesterday and this morning when the issue began.
Going on YouTube.com is fine, as soon as I launch a video (for example youtube.com/watch?v=l1MC27f3Lew that was in my suggestions on the home page) my CPU gets saturated and the temps go to 70º+

As soon as I close the window playing, everything goes back to normal

Tried the same on Firefox 106.0.3 and Safari without issue

      Same issue here since yesterday.

Disabling extensions helps but does not get rid of the issue.

      Safari functions fine.

MacOS M1 MacBook Pro (macOS Ventura 13.0 build 22A380)
      Version 0.99.121-beta (WebKit 614.1.20)

We found the cause and will be releasing an update today.

It has to do with ad-block and YoutTube is basically fighting back. We found a way to go around it.

Issues fixed, closing the thread. If something new comes up in the future, open a new bug report.
