  • After pinning a tab, right-clicking a tab stops working in some cases

  • BugsDesktopDone

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Toggle to Vertical Tabs mode
  2. Open a new tab
  3. Right-click the tab and select "Pin Tab"
  4. Attempts to right-click the pinned tab (for example, to un-pin the tab) do not show the context menu
  5. Toggle to Horizontal Tabs mode
  6. Open a new (non-pinned) tab
  7. Attempts to right-click any tabs (including the the new, non-pinned tab) do not show the context menu

Expected behavior:
The context menu should always display when right-clicking both pinned and non-pinned tabs, to give you the ability to un-pin (and close) un-pinned tabs, or pin (and close) non-pinned tabs.

Interestingly, trying to find the pinned tab in the browser_state.plist file didn't turn up any results, so I can't fix this by going there, and will most likely have to re-install the entire application to remove the bugged tab.

Orion and macOS:

  • Orion 0.99.108.1-beta
  • macOS Catalina 10.15.7

Just a heads-up that I ran into this again, but I haven't pinned any tabs, nor switched to vertical tabs. It's unclear when the issue started happening, unfortunately, so it's tough to give guidance on what might've caused it.

As fixing this requires a full re-installation of Orion (including deleting all of the content in its related ~Library/ directories, it's something I've learned to deal with in the short term.

Fortunately, right-clicking still works everywhere else in the browser, just not on tabs.

I think I've figured it out (just tried again on Orion 0.99.109 and am seeing the same behavior):

If I'm browsing in Horizontal Tabs mode, right-clicking any tab does not show a context menu. But, it depends on how I right-click. If I hold the Control key and tap my trackpad with one finger, nothing happens. If I tap my trackpad with two fingers (without holding Control), I get the context menu. So when in Horizontal Tabs mode, Control+right-click doesn't work at all (on both pinned and non-pinned tabs).

In Vertical Tabs mode, the behavior is slightly different: I can both Control+right-click and two-finger-tap a non-pinned-tab, but I can only two-finger-tap a pinned tab to get the context menu to show up.

      Hope that makes sense.
