  • On return to an unloaded tab with %20 in the URL, returns search result for the URL instead

  • BugsMobileDone

Steps to reproduce:
<Include steps to reproduce the bug; Did you try using Compatibility mode? If applicable, does Safari behave in the same way?>
Load a webpage with spaces in the query. (This behaviour appeared for several tags on archiveofourown.org (AO3), eg https://archiveofourown.org/tags/Peter%20Hale*s*Stiles%20Stilinski/works?commit=Sort%20and%20Filter)
Leave tab open in background long enough to unload the tab
Return to the tab and find it now searches for the link using the default search engine, replacing each instance of “%20” with a space character, in my case it used DuckDuckGo.

Did not test with compatibility mode.
Behaviour never happened on iOS Safari since I started using it in 2010.
Repeated behaviour over several days for different AO3 links, but it’s the only website I go to regularly with URLs like this. When I replace the spaces with “%20” or go to edit the URL and just resubmit it, the page loads as expected. The refresh button reloads the search results.

Expected behavior:
<What you expected to happen?>
On return to the tab, the original page reloads.
