junukwon7 As you all would be aware, this happens in multiple websites Would it be able to disable webkit appearance in the browser? equivalent to -webkit-appearance:none;
junukwon7 Vlad This is just a feature suggestion. The default style from webkit is aimed at macOS's former design patterns, which doesn't fit modern macOS / Web design trends. Please read this article.
Vlad junukwon7 I'd appreciate if you could summarize the problem, how to reproduce it and what is the ask?
junukwon7 junukwon7 This is just a feature suggestion. The problem The webkit has a glossy design as a default for drop-down menus which doesn't fit in well with modern websites. (The background is: the design came from old mac/iOS design patterns) How to reproduce Visit any site with a dropdown menu: eg https://semasio.webflow.io/contact The dropdown menu (select-element) has some glossy design which seems quite weird. Why I am asking this to Orion Although this is likely to be a Webkit issue, I believe Orion could fix(make better) it. See https://discourse.webflow.com/t/turning-off-web-kit-dropdown-styling-in-safari/54493 and https://theme.co/archive/forums/topic/dropdown-menu-styling-in-safari/
Vlad junukwon7 Design is a matter of taste so I am afraid you would need to make a much stronger argument why would we override default WebKit styles. Perhaps a better 'fight' be to upvote user styled sugestion which is here on the site. FWIW this looks different (and not broken in any way to me)
eirk Vlad The default webkit styles are consistent with the very old macOS design language, and not the modern ones. we have already have website error messages different from the webkit default, why not add this too?
eirk they're asking for a more modern look of the dropdown, as the current one is based on the old macOS design language. This could possibly be implemented by injecting some CSS if the website does not offer CSS for the dropdown.
eirk yeah, so someone has to come up with something that looks more modern and better conforms to the design language
