Youtube choppy?

Steps to reproduce:
Just watch any video on Youtube. Safari works fine, Brave works fine. Compatibility mode doesn't resolve the issue.

Expected behavior:
Videos playing smooth and with no interruptions.

Orion, OS version; hardware type:
Version 0.99.119-beta (WebKit 615.1.1)
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Monterey 12.5.1

Ok, apparently i resolved this myself by doing the following:
– Go to the Develop tab -> Experimental features -> enable VP9 SW decoder on battery & VP9 Decoder and restart Orion.

All good now.

BTW, i was on battery when i noticed this.

Vlad No, it was not. I had to Google it and enable it myself.
BTW, Safari has the same problem. Chromium-based browsers (I still use Brave as my daily driver, mainly because of this) do not have this problem.

The reason WebKit (and Safari) disable this by default is because of battery life. It does not always manifest in chopiness (for example I dont' have it and I have on ald Air). Turning the feature on results in more energy used to play videos which leads to faster draining of battery. What is the ask here?

Vlad I have noticed that on Safari and on Orion this fix sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. There aren't any particular times (even on battery) when it works/doesn't work, as far as I could see.
I think that the request here is just to have videos playing back in a normal manner like other browsers are doing. This was my reason to go back to another Chromium-based browser as well.

I'll keep monitoring the behaviour in the next couple of days to see if there are any quantifiable factors I can see that influence this behaviour and report back here if that's still an ongoing issue.
