This doesn't quite seem to be done yet... it works well but requires clicking the toolbar button. It's missing "Show Tab Overview" under "View" and the associated shortcut key and trackpad gesture.

Nice, I see it's improved in the latest release.
I'm not sure if your goal is for Safari feature parity on this, but Safari also has a "Search tabs" in the top right corner of the overview that's focussed by default. It means you can hit the shortcut key, type a title/url name and hit return to quickly switch tabs.
