Steps to reproduce:
When the new tab page is set to 'Start Page', then there seems to be a delayed animation with switching tabs while the Start Page is the current active tab.

Expected behaviour:
Tabs switch instantly as soon as you click on them.

Orion: Version 0.99.114-beta (WebKit 614.1.12)

The end of this video recording also shows the bug mentioned here, which I initially thought was due to the slow animations caused by the Start Page, but I have disproved that in this recording.

    I think it's the background image which makes this an issue, disabling that alone made the stutter go away
    @JunkBrunstoe Can you confirm if this is the same for you as well?

      Shadowknight I can confirm that disabling the background image does indeed fix the problem. I have further found that the solid colour background images do not cause this problem and only the dynamic ones do. I'm unsure as to whether this is related to the resolution of the images, or the fact that they are dynamic.

          Steps to reproduce:

          1. Go to the Start Page
          2. Have Background Image enabled, doesn't matter which image is chosen (no image has the same effect too); this causes the most lag, and is on by default with no background image selected
          3. Have lots of Favorites, it'll make this lag worsen; I have 38 of them for reference

          Expected behavior:
          To not make all my windows in macOS stutter around while this page is open, and Orion to not slow to a crawl (it's noticeable even on 60Hz displays)

            nermur Can you show a video ? also compare with safari with a background iamge and same number of favorites.

                  Same exact issue here, same model of Mac too.

                    I actually have a similar issue but with the opening and closing animations for the side tabs as well as resizing the PiP viewer for YouTube.

                      @Vlad We could possibly be seeing a resurfacing of this issue on Orion v0.99.117
                      Background Image(primarily) and/or too many bookmarks/frequently visited are causing a slowdown in opening and closing of new tabs (only when already on a new tab)

                        Shadowknight Please create a new issue with steps to reproduce. I do not use a background image so have noticed this issue.
