Admittedly this is a little petty, but when I install an extension that adds a custom start page and then open a new tab, there's about a 0.5 second delay between when the tab finishes opening and the custom start page is loaded and ready. (With some variation between different extensions.)

The built-in start page is there instantly when opening a new tab, so preferably a custom start page would as well!

    @Vlad Sorry for the delay. Here's one way I can reproduce it:

    1. Install the extension "Simple Speed Dial" from the Chrome store
    2. Open a new tab and add a few items to the speed dial
    3. Note that it takes about a second for the page to finish rendering and be ready

    In Chrome / Chromium it opens nearly instantly.

      bribri Ok since it is an extension related issue it may take a while to investigate. I recommend using built in Favorites on start page instead of extension for instant results.
