I would like to suggest two related improvements that I believe would reduce
misunderstandings on this forum. Both are inspired by how GitHub Issues
presents information.
1. Reply nesting
On GitHub, a reply is displayed directly beneath the post it responds to,
forming a visible tree:
- Original post
- Reply to original post
- Reply to that reply
In a purely chronological list, it can be hard to tell which post a reply
refers to, especially for readers joining mid-discussion. Making the reply
relationship visually prominent — indentation, or an explicit link to the
parent post — would preserve context for late readers.
2. Status change history
On GitHub Issues, who changed the status or labels, and when, is recorded
on the timeline and remains visible:
userA opened this issue Oct 1, 10:00
userB marked as clarification Oct 1, 12:31
userB closed this Oct 1, 12:31
If a forum thread displays only the final status while intermediate
transitions are not shown, a reader could reasonably mistake the current
status for the whole history. A visible record of status transitions would
prevent this class of misunderstanding for everyone — reporters, staff,
and third-party readers alike.
Neither of these is a complaint about any particular thread. They are
general suggestions, since I have found that a visible timeline of what
happened, and to which post each reply belongs, helps every reader —
myself included — understand discussions accurately. GitHub Issues is a
working, widely familiar example of both behaviours.

Apologies for any awkward phrasing.
