Incorrect website thumbnail on new tab page

Some website thumbnails on the new tab page show up wrong, typically as duplicates of another (correct) thumbnail. See the attached image of the Craigslist link showing the MacRumors logo under “Frequently Visited.”

In this specific instance I would expect the Craigslist logo to appear in the place, or, if not that, then a generic or placeholder symbol.

I’m having the same issue. Amazon.com is showing up with the Kagi icon in my browser (Orion 1.5.2 on iOS 26.6.1).

jeanetienne Just to piggyback off this, I’m encountering additional bugs when trying to delete the offending links (chiefly the one included in the original post) — when I tap and hold and select delete on the link, it either doesn’t do anything or it just moves the link to a different spot. I tried uploading a screen recording but this site won’t let me for some reason.

Sammu Is it possible that each time you delete one of the "Boston rooms * shares - craig..." item, it actually deletes it, but you have another one very similar (perhaps all the various pages of search results, or different listings)? Their short title could be similar, but could be different URLs under the hood?

jeanetienne That does seem quite probable, although it does seem rather clunky that the "Frequently Visited" screen would work this way. I went in and hit the delete button several dozen times (including other times when I was screen recording but had to delete for one reason or another) and the Craigslist link is still showing up. So perhaps this isn't a bug per se like my original post was, but it is probably suboptimal behavior. In any case, I saw that the newest version of Orion is supposed to fix the original bug, so thanks!

@jeanetienne I see you marked this as Done and it was supposed to be included in Orion 1.5.3. Do I need to remove the sites from the new tab page to “refresh” the icons? Mine are still showing the wrong ones.

FourKneez in theory the favicons should update next time you visit the page? Let me know if it doesn't work?

Hi FourKneez sorry, my last answer didn't work. I've added a new ticket to fix it in an upcoming release.

In the meantime, you can reset the icons yourself:

Settings → Privacy → Clear History and Websites Data
Turn on only "Websites Cache" (leave Cookies and History off)
Tap Clear

This wipes the stored icons, so the start page fetches them again. You won't be logged out of any sites.
