YouTube videos not loading properly on Golden Gate

YouTube videos have not been loading properly mac OS Golden Gate beta and the latest version of Orion. This has started around 3 days ago, it did not happen previously.

There are no specific videos. I tried clearing cache and cookies. I also tried compatibility mode. Refreshing the page has had some rare successes. Same videos are working normally in both Safari and Chrome.

Sometimes a video would be playing normally, but when I jump to a certain time and it needs to load again it stops.

As I am writing this post, it happened with:

But it happened with many other videos over the past few days.

Youtube stats detect a network connection:

(the last error is duplicated many more times).

Meanwhile the video is just stuck on loading:

I am having the same issue. Video would not load across almost all sites, including Youtube, Twitch, etc

@Yannick Do you have any suggestions to circumvent this until we get a permanent fix? It is so annoying 🙁

As an observation, this is mostly happening in one of two cases:

1- Opening a video that I had already watched a part of (thus YouTube has to resume from a certain time).
2-Jumping to a future time in the video I am already playing.
3-Playing a video after an ad has popped-up

So far, I am unable to reproduce this with a non-previously watched video where I do not jump to a certain time. I frankly cannot remember if it happened before.

Same issue here with the Orion RC version 1.1.1 (149-rc), WebKit 625.1.8 with macOS Golden Gate.

Video also crashes when I disable/enable "stable volume" in the youtube video settings.
In the activity monitor, the "Orion RC Graphicsand Media" starts consuming a tremendous amount of power until I force quit it.
If I then force quit the youtube tab process and reload the tab, the video works again.

This does not happens on the latest Golden Gate Safari.

I was able to reproduce your issue. As in, if I go into a video and toggle the stable volume switch (whether on or off), the video stops and just buffers as I showed above. Here is an example on this video:

Clicking play does not do anything.

In this case, the stable volume toggle was on and I turned it off. Console dump (this time with no compatibility mode):

Sergio can you please try updating Content Blockers and check if that solves the problem? cc @PEPITO @JackyChen

dino I have auto-update on so I already was on the latest version in every try. I just updated it manually again now, I can confirm the issue persists.

This time I got the following message

Correct me if I am wrong, but cannot we rule out that this is caused by content blockers since it persists in compatibility mode? Just trying to understand 🙂

Sergio My bad, I completely missed your mention that you already tried compatibility mode. In that case, it can't be due to Content Blockers. We will investigate the root cause to find the fix soon.
