You're right, it's still not as obvious as it used to be on older versions. The truth is, with the "Liquid Glass" design language there's less "solid material" to show a hard tint, so it's hard to find a good way to differentiate between dark/light mode, dark/light web content and standard/private browsing mode. All these permutations are now closer in look and feel, and there's a higher chance some of them will look similar.
I'll keep this ticket opene, as we'll still keep iterating on this to find something better.
