Inspect element / copy page url default shortcuts overlap

coming from firefox, i use alot of inspect element when developing web pages. the inspect element shortcut in orion has a tooltip that suggests the action has similar shortcut (Shift CMD C) as firefox.

what happens is somewhat unexpected, the page url gets copied instead, and element selection is not happening.

I reported this as a bug, as i think it is unintentional to have two default shortcuts overlapping each other.

But I would like to know how to disable the copy page url feature as I can easily do something similar with CMD L + CMD C, so the copy page url shortcut feels a bit unnecessary to me.

Looks like you can use Shift+CMD+C to start element selection when the Web Inspector is focused, whereas when the web view itself is focused, it behaves as you describe. This is arguably inconsistent and, in conjunction with the points you make, worth reviewing from our end--we will look into it.

One more thing: Inspect Element is a main menu item, Develop menu -> Inspect Element / Stop Inspect Element. So it's possible to assign a custom shortcut to it using macOS's System Settings

Until then, it is like you say, to work around with setting shortcuts. It is useful to know how to assign a different shortcut to inspecting element, but is the other way also possible? Removing a shortcut? Or can this only be emulated by reassigning to a combination that I know I never will use? In my case, I would love to not have the shortcut (copy url) in the way for inspect element since this combination is ingrained in my hands.

I also think finding new key combinations is some work itself as to make sure not to collide with other existing shortcuts (i like defaults! usually...)

johnche You can't straight up remove a shortcut, but looks, as a workaround, you can overwrite it in System Settings.
When I add this shortcut in System Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> App Shortcuts
Then, CMD+Shift+C will trigger Develop -> Inspect Element
