What does your feature entail?
This feature proposes displaying the version number for each installed extension directly on the main extension management page.
What is it for?
Currently, the interface does not show the version of an extension, making it impossible for users to know if their extensions are up-to-date. This lack of information requires users to manually check the extension's store page for version details, which is inefficient.
How will it affect existing workflows or user experience?
By adding visible version information, this feature will improve the user experience by providing essential data at a glance, empowering users to manage their extensions more effectively.
What are the exact ways that you see a user using your proposed feature?
A user would typically use this feature to check if an extension needs an update or to verify a specific version for troubleshooting.
Proposed User Workflow:
- The user navigates to the extensions management page.
- In the list of installed extensions, the version number (e.g., "Version 2.1.5") is displayed directly on each extension's card, below its name or description.
- The user can immediately see the version and decide if further action is needed.
examples of how other browsers/apps implement this feature
- Google Chrome: On the
chrome://extensions page, the version number is clearly visible on each extension's card.
If your feature suggestion adds on to an existing feature, how would it work into it to extend its usefulness?
This feature would be an extension of the existing extension management UI. It adds a critical piece of information that makes the page significantly more useful as a management dashboard, rather than just a list of on/off toggles.
