Orion iOS always closes all tabs after a few hours

In settings -> tabs I have “close tabs” set to “after one week” however I have changed this to other settings and nothing seems to matter here. On my phone, every few hours no matter what, Orion closes all tabs. If I open some tabs in the morning to check on deliveries or anything else, then go do some stuff, it’s guaranteed that if I come back to Orion around mid day: all tabs will be closed and gone and I’ll have a single tab open to my start page. My history accurately reflects what I was doing but that’s not the issue here. This is frustrating because for work stuff it adds too much friction to even use the mobile browser at all. I have been through all other settings to see if there’s some other setting that’s overriding the close tabs setting but I can’t find anything. Maybe I’m just a dummy and overlooked some setting somewhere? Or is this a bug?

i'll take a look. I assume you are not starting your browsing session in private mode or something like this?

Thank you! It'd be awesome to get this cleared up so I can completely stop using Safari for anything!

Not starting in private mode, no. Just starting in regular default mode. And I just checked, when I open new tabs they aren't in private mode either, which is good, I don't want them to be unless I specifically say so.

I do have settings->browsing->low power mode set to "on" but I think this should make the tabs go to sleep and not auto-refresh when I launch the app unless clicked on right? And the tab should still be there. This shouldn't close and remove the tab. At least that's how I interpret this setting.

What options do you have set for these settings?
Privacy -> Remove History items
Privacy -> Never Remember History
General -> Start Orion With

So guess what. I suppose I AM a big giant dummy.

the two privacy settings are set to exactly how you have it in that screenshot. However, the "start orion with" option was set to "new tab". I don't think I changed that? Maybe I did long ago? Not sure. I changed that setting to what you have selected, so I'm sure that'll fix my issue.

I do think that setting is a bit confusing though. I thought that just meant what to FOCUS the browser on when it starts. I did not realize that setting it to "new tab" meant it would completely wipe out all tabs from whatever I was doing earlier that day. However, reading down a bit to other options I think it makes sense.

no problem, glad it works for you, yeah its a niche use to always open the tab with blank state
