Keyboard glitching / doesn't appear when opening new tab

The keyboard doesn't appear when opening new tab. After a few tries only it opens.

The keyboard should appear immediately.

Hi Quicknik92 thank you for taking the time to report this bug!

Can you give us a few more details?
Do you have "Show keyboard on new tab" enabled in Settings → Tabs?
Does this happen on all new tabs, or only in certain cases?
You say "After a few tries only it opens", after trying what? What's the action you take that helps showing the keyboard?

If possible, attaching a screen recording of the issue would be extremely helpful.

This happens when I switched back to start page , the issue is far more manageable if the new tab is a homepage instead of start page.

It does this for me too. Sometimes when I open a new tab and I try to look up something the keyboard doesn't show, then I try pressing it a few times but it doesn't work and I just see the address bar move up a little and back down. Right now I am using Gboard, but I think it doesn't matter which keyboard I use it still happens sometimes.

Hi ZENYX I just installed GBoard and wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Do you have extensions installed, do you have any idea if any of your settings could be linked to this behaviour?

I will try to get a screen recording but the issue is not consistent, it does it sometimes not always , but does enough times to annoy me. I am using a 3rd party keyboard. Also after disabling the start page and changing new tab to homepage, the issue has been partially solved. When it happens now the keyboard appears on the second tap on the search bar.

I've recently fixed a similar issue with SwiftKey keyboard, and I wonder if each 3rd party keyboard will cause the same kind of issues...

Quicknik92 thanks for the info. I downloaded and installed Y Keyboard but couldn't reproduce the issue.

Could you and Quicknik92 do me a favour and try something to help me debug this issue?

switch back to an iOS default keyboard,
force close (kill) the Orion app,
(check you have the latest version from the App Store)
Reopen Orion, and check if the buggy behaviour still persists

This would be very helpful to help me understand if my original assumption about 3rd party keyboard holds true.
