Swipe to go back (on whole screen) like Arc

It would be great if we could enable a swipe to go back gesture like on the arc mobile browser. There you go back by just swiping the middle of the screen, instead of the screen corner.

I love the fact that there are toolbar gestures for navigating webpages forward and back by swiping. Is it possible to extend that feature to anywhere on the screen ( not just the edges ) just like in 'arc search'for iOS.

It really helps with reachability and also it doesn't break the flow with rest of iOS 26 where there is a new universal back gesture by swiping backwards from anywhere on the screen. eg iOS settings app.

Could you elaborate on that? I'm not sure how a full-screen swipe would function 🤔

Yannick I think the idea is that rather than starting from the screen edge and swiping in towards the middle to go forwards and backwards, you are able to swipe left to right or right to left anywhere on the screen to do the same thing.

I just found out that the feature is half way there. Swipe to go forward a page works from anywhere.

Just need to implement swipe to go back.

Adding haptics to this gesture also would be nice

I'm sorry, but I'm still not convinced.

If I understand what you're asking, then people won't be able to swipe carousels on the web anymore.
If I'm not understanding what you're asking, then it's probably what we already have and which, in my opinion, works well: you can move forward or backward by swiping on the edges of the screen along the full height of the display.

As for haptics, we removed it following repeated requests from users 🙁

Orion already has this halfway there. Swipe to go forward from anywhere exists right now.

Also Arc search on ios had exactly the same swipe to navigate from anywhere feature.
I think when a carousel appears in the webpage , swiping carousel takes precedence over swipe to navigate.

Meta's Threads app has similar navigation , there is no conflict with carousel of photos and navigation. Carousel takes priority when it appears.

Even conflicting navigation is present right now in the feedback page. To type this feedback there is a new window, there are 2 scrolling planes, one for the feedback window and other for the background page and yet both scroll independently.

Why I am requesting is because it helps with reachabilty , iPhones are bigger than ever, it is impossible to use the phone one handed especially standing in a crowded bus or a metro.

Currently for Orion I have managed to solve this by rearranging the toolbar to place a back button on the lower right corner. It works for now.

Haptics can be added as an option I guess🤷‍♂️
