Sometime in the run up to the release of v1, PIV authentication in Orion stopped working. Due to another PIV related ticket remaining unresolved, I didn't catch the version at which this functionality broke.
When I attempt to authenticate a message, I receive a message showing "Smartcard authentication failed. No client certificate in the request."
Prior to this, PIV support was working for an initial login, but at the first need to reauthenticate I would see the same message saying there was no client certificate in the request. This would continue until I either restarted Orion or removed the card for some random amount of time. There is a separate ticket for the reauthentication issue that is marked as planned.
I'm not sure if it is related, but PIV support in Safari also broke when Apple released Safari 26.
I expected to successfully authenticate to sites with my PIV card.
