Flatpack doesn't launch (just hangs) on Debian 13 x86_64 under Wayland

Just downloaded the Orion alpha and tried it on my Debian 13 x86_64 system, under wayland.

I chmod-ed the flatpack to be executable, then ran it from a terminal session. This is the output:

$ chmod +x oriongtk.alpha.external.flatpak
$ ./oriongtk.alpha.external.flatpak

No window or gui ever displays (waited several minutes), so I have to ^C the process to end it.

That's as far as it gets. 😉

System details

Debian 13 x86_64, running KDE under Wayland
Ryzen 5950X, 64GB ECC RAM
Nvidia 5070 Ti, using the Nvidia"Open" drivers, version 590.44.01

At least some kind of GUI to appear. 😃

Ahhh, now that I think about it, I think I was mis-remembering FlatPak vs AppImage. AppImage's are the one's which just need chmod-ing.

After installing the application via the flatpak install command, it seems to launch fine from the standard KDE menu structure:

Hmmm, there doesn't seem to be a way for me to close this issue?

Feedback wise, yeah the lack of a functional ad blocker is a show stopper for any actual real world testing.

Just tried one of my standard websites, and it showed an Ad.

That was the end of my testing of Orion. I'll try it again once UBlock Origin or similar type of adblocker works. 🙂
