Just starting to use Orion (less than 2 days) and thought it might be helpful (I hope) to list which extensions I've been able to install and any difficulties along the way. FWIW, I'd suggest having a normal Chrome "Developer Mode" to install extensions from disk.
Having the Firefox extension store as a fallback for when Chrome extensions don't work is awesome!
I'm coming over from Arc so all these extensions worked in that browser.
(c) = installed from Chrome web store
(f) = installed from Firefox web store
(s) = Safari based extension
Orion version 1.0.0 (139), WebKit 623.1.8.0.0 on a Mac M3-Ultra.
- 1Password (c): installed flawlessly
- Consent-o-Matic (c): no problems
- Downie (c): Had to be installed from disk but does work without problem.
- StopTheMadness (s): Also installed from disk. Confusing install process but was able to get it to work using the Mac application (Pro version).
- Obsidian web clipper (c): installed flawlessly
- PocketTube Youtube Subscription Manager (c): no problems
- Power Theasaurus Pro (c): no problems
- Rain Alarm (f): Tried as a Chrome Extension, but would not let me set a location, even after giving it permission. The Firefox extension also gave an error for automatic location (I said Always Use Location, but that didn't matter), but did let me add my location manually, so...success!
- Readwise Highlighter - official Readwise, not the "Community" highlighter (c): no problems
- ColorZilla (f): The Chrome version of this did work in Arc but doesn't work in Orion, but it works great using the Firefox extension!
- WhatFont: Both Chrome and Firefire versions of this extension do not work.
