Soham I feel like the fact that people who want to change it have to go to these lengths to do so shows that this should be implemented.

okimilktea I am also unable to find the preferences.plist file in my profile folder in ~/Application Support/Orion/Defaults (my profile folder). Seems like the documentation needs to update?

It would be nice, when we eventually get this feature, if it worked in a similar fashion to Floorp where you can set a custom image folder and new tab pages will cycle through the images contained in that folder at random.

The mac app has a choice of background images. There does not seem to be a way to add these on iPhone. Would be nice to customize.

Also would be nice to be able to use our own images or to use images like those on safari. They have some nice patterns. But any images/colors at all on mobile would be a great start
