Are you able to reproduce the poor performance on a fresh profile? (File → Profiles → New Profile…)

For comparison, here's my M1 Air result. The fact that both browsers are performing notably worse on your device is also worth pointing out.

Orion and Safari should score ~the same. Do you have any password manager extensions installed on Orion/Safari? Could you also check the performance on a fresh Orion profile?

When you test, they advise to disable all content blockers and run the browser as close to 'vanilla' as possible. Extensions can significantly affect the score.

@joe_blondie if you load up Orion again and run Speedometer 3.1, hit the gear icon next to the address bar and enable Compatibility Mode and try testing again to see if your results are any better.

yes, with compatibility mode was fast.

Mine is basically the same scores on an M4 Max Studio... Did some testing and turns out the 1Password extension is the culprit. When I disabled it Orion scored MUCH faster, still didn't beat chrome but at least it was close.
