Steps to reproduce:

  • Install 1Password extension
  • Login into 1Password extension
  • Continue browsing
  • Open 1Password again
  • Repeat the last two steps a few times until 1Password starts being very slow or does not even stop loading at all.

Expected behavior:
1Password opens almost instantly like it does in other browsers.

Unfortunately, this is a problem with 1Password, not Orion. You can add your voice to https://1password.community/discussion/124112/support-for-orion-browser to change their stance on supporting Orion:

We don't plan on adding support for niche browsers. You can install 1Password for browsers on any Chromium based browser and it will work (just install the Chrome version of the extension), but it will not connect to the desktop app if the browser is not supported. You will still be able to autofill and save new logins though.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think this is the same issue. I did added my support on the 1Password community board.

This is fast compared to mine... I have measured between 25-40 seconds to load.

With the recent updates, the performance seems to have gotten a lot better, and it doesn't load "infinitely", but it does still become a lot more unresponsive.

Is the prognosis for this still "1password won't support Orion", or is this a "Orion needs to improve some of the webext API implementations they use"?

jvacek Probably combination of the two, but until 1Password whitelists Orion we can't be sure what is causing problems and spend time working on this.
