Orion Crashes Causes Tab Trees To De-Tree

I have a lot of tab trees, all with multiple levels (as in more than three levels).

Alas, Orion crashes somewhat frequently on my Mac, causing the tab trees to de-tree (for lack of a better word) when I reopen Orion.

My definition of de-tree is that the tab trees would split and spread out, and it requires me to reorganize the tabs again into how they were before Orion crashed.

Strangely, it's somewhat random as to which tabs are affected, because it's not all the tabs and it's not the exact same tabs that get de-treed per instance.

I expected my tree-style tabs to retain the layout in which they were organized upon reopening Orion.

I don't think Compatibility Mode would help here, as it's not a webpage specific thing. I doubt the extensions are causing the problem, I only have uBlock Origin/YouTube Auto HD + FPS/Dark Reader.

I'm back on Safari for the time being, and I will return to Orion full time when this bug and the Netflix bug I posted about get fixed. I look forward to Orion's future.

Hi @k-enrique apologies for the trouble you are facing with Orion.

Is there a series of steps / video recording that you could share which will help us get to the bottom of this issue? When you say Orion crashes frequently on my Mac, is there any specific action which is causing the crash? More info that can help us reproduce this will be very appreciated.

Hello akshatpatel, thank you for the prompt response.

I don't have a series of steps nor video recording that I could share, nor any specific action either as I would just be clicking any part of the browser/webpage or opening my Mac from sleep/closed lid, and it'd either crash or I would find it to be already crashed. Sorry.

However, I do recall sending/sharing the crash log to/with Orion upon reopening Orion the last time it happened (which was yesterday), perhaps we could start from there?

Though my workflow requires Safari's reliability at the moment, I'll continue to use Orion to see if I can replicate the crash and send another crash log.

akshatpatel Orion just crashed again today as I opened my MacBook's lid with more than half a day of not using my MacBook. And my tabs (though not all) have de-treed again.

I have a copy of the crash log. Is there any way we can proceed from here?

Please share the crash log (Orion will automatically ask you to share any crash logs next time you open it) with a comment / email / your username so that I can follow up. Thanks!

Just updated to Orion 1.0.0, will try to see if it still persists now that Orion's out of beta.

Congratulations on getting Orion for Mac as a fully-fledged, production-ready browser by the way!

Hello! Yes, we have added several tab tree related fixes to 1.0, so hopefully this shouldn't happen now. I'll mark this ticket as Done for now then, but if you encounter this agin, please let us know, we can re-open this. (Hopefully won't be required).

Glad to hear! Been testing Orion since updating it to 1.0.0, and I haven't encountered it again yet. Hopefully I won't, but will let you know if I do.
