A browser-based resource usage view of per-tab CPU/RAM etc.

From Discord, putting here as a suggestion. A per-tab view of system resource usage (CPU/RAM) might be useful for some users, in keeping an eye on performance or any tabs that are using up loads of resources.

I can imagine a more passive version of this feature like "View Tab Info" which would show current CPU and memory usage of the tab?

Could be helpful or a useful precursor towards the automated "a tab is going haywire and using tonnes of CPU/RAM" that most browsers/engines implement.

gp I think you are suggesting soething like Chrome's process monitor?

I was thinking someting more in line with Mac "way" - like a "Tab Info" option in tab's context menu where it would give information for that tab.

Firefox also has something similar with their about:performance tab.

I don't know if WebKit gives you this information nicely or if you will have to somehow extract it yourself 🙁

Would love this. Orion has a core theme of giving the user insight into what their browser and each website is doing, mainly for privacy purposes. And another core theme of a fast and efficient browsing experience. Extending this insight to each website feels natural, if perhaps more of a stretch goal or a hackathon type feature.

I would love to have a "task manager" like Chrome has, not sure how possible this is with Webkit:

I often miss something like this in Safari, when some tab goes rogue and I see in iStat Menu that Safari is using a lot of CPU, but I can't figure out which tab it is - in Chrome I would just identify the problematic tab and kill it and that would solve the problem, in Safari I often have to restart whole Safari to fix this.
