Hi, I’m a user of both Orion and Hypothesis, and I’d like to request enhanced support for annotating PDFs using Hypothesis within Orion. Specifically:
- Enable Hypothesis annotation sidebar and text-highlight anchoring for PDFs opened in Orion (using Orion’s native PDF.js viewer or equivalent).
- Make sure the annotation engine can hook into the selectable text layer of PDFs, so highlights / comments can be anchored reliably (not just a sidebar without anchoring).
- Possibly allow users to use via.hypothes.is or integrate Hypothesis in a similar way directly from Orion UI for PDFs.
This would greatly improve workflows for academic / research / annotation tasks inside Orion. Happy to test early versions or provide feedback if needed.
Thanks for considering this enhancement.

About "social annotation": https://web.hypothes.is/ - it is a sort of standard in many academic communities
Right now Hypothesis is supported via Chrome/Edge expension or via a "bookmarklet" which works well with other browsers: https://web.hypothes.is/help/which-browsers-are-supported-by-hypothesis/
In Orion we miss PDF support.
Unfortunately, PDF are a big part of what "knowledge workers" need to read.
