MacOS spotlight search redirect

When initiating an Orion search via Spotlight, the search is made using DuckDuckGo even though my default search engine is Kagi. Orion is also set as my default browser. See the below screen recording and settings screenshots.

I have isolated the bug, although I'm not sure if Orion or Apple are at fault here. It seems to interrelate with Safari and its Kagi Extension (for reference, I have not tried to uninstall/reinstall the extension). The search redirect away from Kagi Search on Orion happens when Safari's default search engine is set to anything other than Google. See the below screen recording for reference.

Unfortunately Apple does not allow you to set custom search engines for Spotlight search. It has been suggested here in the past to send feedback to Apple to request this functionality so they see that people want this.

Additionally, Raycast can set Kagi as search default so you could replace Spotlight altogether if that's an option for you.

Dustin Got it, thank you! I usually use Alfred but thought I’d highlight this issue. I guess it’s a no-fix.
