While browsing the web I noticed a large increase of generated favicons by one site.
The site generated hundreds of favicons totalling in 3.22 GB of favicon cache and used 183 MB of local storage. This is more than ordinary usage.
.

The intention of hundreds of favicons is favicon fingerprinting, a method to track a user across multiple visits. It can be used to populate the users storage with unnecessary data as well.
Orion should be restricting the amount of write requests a single site can do and look into ways of avoiding favicon fingerprinting.
A solution could be blocking favicons at all and use pre-downloaded ones the user can preselect or the Orion Team can configure for popular categories. This would be a more engaging way in terms of UX instead of showing a globe or no favicon at all.
