Tab highlighting no longer working consistently

As the title says, vertical tabs are usually not highlighted for me in the last ~week or 2. clicking around can cause it to work again. AFAICT it tends to occur after clicking the New Tab button in the vertical tab list. occasionally the New Tab button itself will retain a lingering highlight after click or even hover.

it's surprisingly disorienting! i never realized how much i rely on the active tab being highlighted.

normal behavior is that the active tab is highlighted in the vertical tab bar

Hi @charcole! First of all, thanks a lot for submitting this bug feedback, we really appreciate it! Apologies for the delayed response.

I tried to reproduce the issue you mention where the new tabs are not getting highlighted for vertical tabs, but I wasn't able to do so. Would really appreciate if you could let me know any further steps / screenshots / screen recording of the bug in action, so that I can try to reproduce and fix it.

Hi, I am having the same issue since quite a while and came across this post. Not sure if this is a deterministic way to reproduce the behaviour, @akshatpatel, but I tend to open new tabs with cmd+T. That opens a new tab, as expected, but the tab overview at the side does not update with it and the highlighting just disappears.

I think the highlighting can also sometimes show up on the wrong tabs altogether, but I cannot reproduce that at the moment. I'll try to keep an eye on it, though.

@dude Thank you for the report. We're gearing up to update the beta of the browser soon - along with liquid glass changes, this issue also should have been fixed. Once the next beta is out, please check this out and see if you can reproduce it.
