Page refreshing on its own

Pages seem to refresh on their own. This does not happen on all websites, but has happened on quite a few - including on the log in page for orion feedback. It also happens whenever I am using Box pages, which is especially problematic when one is looking at an excel spreadsheet on box and then the refresh brings you back to a different tab in the sheet. I checked with safari and it does not happen there.

This sounds somewhat similar to #11429.
Could you provide some more information?

Do you have any extensions installed?
Are you able to reproduce this on a fresh Orion profile (File → Profiles → New Profile)?
Did this happen on Orion Version 0.99.133?

Only two Firefox extensions - Proton Pass, and Readwise.
Just tried with a new profile and the problem does not appear to repeat on there.
It did not happen on the previous Orion version, only started after the update.

This is happening to me as well. At first I thought that it was due to having multiple windows (since two times it stopped happening after I closed the second window) but it's still hapenning.

Sometimes it just constantly refreshes the page, others it refresh after some time (and somehow I lose my session). It doesn't seem to affect just one site.

Edit: just tried with todoist.com and Version 0.99.133-beta (WebKit 621.1.2.111.4) and I'm experiencing the same refresh and session logout even with compatibility mode enabled.

It seems to be happening more on pages that have a login element. It's become so bad that I am having to switch to another browser for anything important so as not to risk a refresh that causes loss of work.

That is valuable information, and it might be worth testing if disabling everything in the Passwords section of the settings would alleviate the problem. @flygoat is this something you'd be able to test once you have a moment? Thank you for your help and patience.

Thanks. But unfortunately that did not help. Most of the password options were already unticked, and I had '3rd party' chosen in the first box (I use a password manager extension). I changed that to 'none', but the problem remains.

An example of a problem site is 'Box'. It is impossible to work on an online document, as it keeps refreshing every 10-15 seconds. It also does this on the Orion feedback page, on google maps, and all sorts of others.

The release notes have some password-related fixes but I cannot say for certain.

A fresh profile with the password manager extension does not seem to reproduce the problem

Would it be possible to have access to the latest RC version, so that I can see whether that helps?

I'll get back to you regarding the -RC build access. (waiting to see if there's a way to share a build without further updates, essentially providing temporary access)
It's also worth mentioning that Orion RC is a separate application which could make reproducing the bug a challenge since a fresh profile seems to not exhibit that behavior either.

You can try this developer build. It is mostly identical to the current -rc build, and it should include all password manager related fixes. The caveat I mentioned in my earlier message about it essentially being a blank slate still applies. Do NOT replace your current Orion installation with this. Instead, extract it somewhere (I use a folder in my Downloads folder for testing) and run it from there.

I may have uncovered a different source to the issue: I switched off syncing, and the problem seems to have stopped (it's been a few hours now).
