Keyboard shortcut CMD+Left Arrow does not close new tab

If a tab is opened by clicking a link, using the keyboard shortcut CMD+Left Arrow will cause that tab to stay open and load the page it was opened from, causing two tabs to be open to the same page. Any other method of going "back" will instead cause the tab to close and return to the original page.

Methods of going "back" that work as expected:

CMD + [
Back button on the toolbar
Trackpad swipe gesture
