Hi Orion Team,
First of all, congratulations on building such a great browser! Orion is fast, lightweight, and privacy-friendly – exactly what many users like me have been waiting for.
However, there is one major drawback that unfortunately makes Orion unusable for my needs:
The lack of proper support for the Web Speech API, especially speechSynthesis.speak().
I rely on translation extensions like Mate Translate and Read Aloud, which work perfectly in other browsers – including spoken audio output. In Orion, the translation works, but the audio remains silent, even though the extension has all necessary permissions.
This is a real dealbreaker.
A modern browser needs full speech output support – not just for convenience, but also for accessibility and language learning.
I truly hope you will fully implement the SpeechSynthesis API soon. That would make Orion not only a great browser, but a complete one.
Otherwise, I sadly have to return to Brave or Chrome – and I’d really prefer not to.
