Lost ALL saved tab groups on iPad + iPhone 18.4.1 from today

This morning when I opened Orion on iPad, all saved tab groups had vanished from iPad and iPhone versions 18.4.1. MacOS seems to be okay, but I haven’t upgraded to Sequoia yet.

All tab groups disappeared on mobile devices except for default current tab group.

I’m afraid of losing everything on Mac, so disabled cross-device syncing on Mac and I’ll discontinue using mobile devices.

Hey! Please update Orion to version 1.3.22. The update became available approximately three hours ago. Your tab groups should reappear after that.

laiz I just updated to this version and it wiped out my tab groups. These updates are killing me. Two updates in a row wiping out the groups. I’m about to stop using them. I thought it would be neat to use this feature for the sites I keep opened and are similar from a workflow perspective, but if it happens a 3rd time I’m really going to have to reconsider and maybe the browser as a whole….

This is on iPhone 18.4.1.

Thank you for bringing that up. To clarify, did the tab groups work as expected for you on 1.3.21 and they only broke following the update to 1.3.22?

I have now moved to having tab groups in all my profiles and I will keep a close eye on any potential issues so we can get to the bottom of these issues. If you have any other obvervations to add, please do so!

This isn't a big part of my workflow, but I have seen similar on several occasions. Sometimes when I restore a tab group, it has a bunch of tabs in it that I had opened in the past, but closed prior.

laiz I only recently started to use Orion on the iPhone. The tab groups setup and work just fine. I didn’t pay attention to the version numbers till now, but I’m guessing I was on 20 the first time and setup the groups.

I usually do a daily refresh of the App Store and update whatever is available that day. So I upgraded and saw my groups were gone. Strange. Well I’ll just recreate because I’m new to this browser and hadn’t created a bunch and could go through history to restore.

Yesterday I saw the 22 version and the notice about the bug, so I happily downloaded it and they were all removed again.

So the moves to 21 and now 22 have deleted the tab groups so far. I will say I mostly spend my time in the general/default group. So not sure if that’s a factor. I never tried having a website opened in one of the tab groups and then updating to see if that would have survived then.

Hope it helps and good luck! It really is just great groups, be in the default group, update app, and poof, they disappear.

I also really like having the pages open and every time they have been cancelled by the last two updates Even if in the updates it says that they fixed it.

This is the second time it has happened ed in the past week- both times identical. All my tab groups (i think i had 5?) were deleted, closing any the tabs in them too.
For added context:

The first time I probably had around 35 tabs in total between the different tab groups, the second time there were probably around 6 total tabs between the different groups.
My history wasn't deleted with it, and all my preferences were maintained too

We are truly sorry.

This has been resolved with version 1.3.22. Only the tab groups created or modified with version 1.3.21 are permanently lost. 😞

Overnight almost all of my tabs and all of my tab groups disappeared. It did keep the first two tabs of the group I was on, but it’s no longer named correctly. It still says to reopen with all non-private tabs from the previous session in the settings but it did not do so.

The desired functionality would be them remaining in place or having a way to restore them.

Hey! This is an unfortunate bug, and the team is currently working on it. The most recent TestFlight build allowed users to get their tab groups back, and I'd assume this will be the case once the next version is released. That will hopefully happen soon as I can only imagine how frustrating losing your tab groups is.

Ironically, I've put them in a tab group to prevent orion from lagging #1516).
Ironically, due to #10298 my tabs most likely weren't synced.

I updated the mobile Orion app to 1.3.21 (3) (WebKit 8621.2.3.10.3) and now all of my tab groups have disappeared.

I expect tab groups and all other data to remain as is regardless of an update.

I just realized this happened to me also. I’d recently organized maybe 100 tabs into groups, and today they all disappeared, except the default and Private groups. Dismaying!
