Higher CPU usage in Orion than in Safari
Steps to reproduce:
Open acrivity monitor & see Orion Web Content (Prewarmed) consumption.
]Orion is unusually consuming alot of CPU resoruces & heating up laptop even when watching a youtube video.

macos ventura, Macbook Pro 14"

I have the exact same problem. My computer got ridiculously hot from one youtube tab.
Verfied just being on a youtube video page (video doesn't have to be playing) spikes the CPU. Each tab on a youtube video page increases the CPU usage even more.
Same problem on my M1 Mac mini it is hammering the cpu and heating up more than normal.

Please try with previous release and let us know the CPU/energy issuesituation (this will tell us if 121 broke something)

The same behaviour occurs for me either on 120.1 or 121 on Ventura 13.0 with 2021 MBP M1 Pro when playing a youtube video or simply having a tab open.
However, it seems to me that being signed in to my youtube account (and/or a non-private window) actually brings out the issue. See the screenshots.
Safari 16.1 and Orion 121 side by side. Both private windows, not signed in.
Safari 16.1 and Orion 121 side by side. Both private windows, both signed in.
Safari 16.1 and Orion 120 side by side. Safari private windows, Orion not, both signed in.
A non-private window seems to exerbate the issue. No clue why the Viewport is different. I tried to make the windows the exact same size.
I have no extensions beside Dark Reader installed and that was deactivated via the compatibility Mode (and/or in the menu), I could not see a significant difference either way. Sorry for all the screenshots, I actually had more, for all the permuations but I hope that is enough .
Thanks for the (otherwise) awesome browser, I am enjoying the hell out of it!
It seems that it has nothing to do with the latest release (121). What is strange is that so many people found the problem now and not with the previous release.
Our plan is to update to a newer version of WebKit and test with this.
Thanks everybody for your patience and detective work. We are getting to the bottom of this.
It appears to be caused by a script YT added recently to animate the Like button. The problem happens even when no video is playing. We are investigating why this behavior exhibits.
Steps to reproduce:
Play YouTube vid, open a few tabs
Expected behavior:
Temps around 80-90*C
