Bookmark Favorite Sync Is Terrible

I love Kagi and the Orion browser, but the bookmark and favorite sync is a disaster. Becuase I couldn't get my iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini to sync, I exported the bookmarks to an html file on one machine. I then removed all bookmarks from all machines, followed by disabling sync. No machine had a single bookmark or favorite. All good.

Then I imported the html into Orion on the Mac Mini. So far so good. All bookmarks look perfect and in the correct order.

I re-enabled sync on my iPhone, then the disaster started. Tons of strange duplicates on iOS that don't exist on the Mac Mini. Here are screenshots from iOS.

I expected all devices to have identical bookmarks.

I ust enabled sync on my MacBook Pro, from having zero bookmarks, and all the bookmarks came in but they are out of order. What a pain.

I removed Orion from my iPhone. Reinstalled the app, enabled sync, and it seemed OK. The bookmarks were out of order, so I dragged one icon to another place and all heck bbroke loose. All of a sudden tons of duplicates appeared.

This is nuts.

I use Orion on both my iPhone and MacBook, but my bookmarks don’t sync properly. I’ve tried deleting and re-importing them multiple times, but the issue persists.
The bookmarks never fully sync between devices and always lose their original organization. I have the latest version of Orion installed on both my iPhone and Mac, and this issue does not occur with Safari.

This is the only problem preventing me from fully switching to Orion. I am hoping you can look into this and hopefully fix it, making bookmarks sync completely and correctly between iPhone and Mac.

Just canceled subscription because of this. Really don't understand why this is so difficult especially when it is using icloud sync. Really like the browser but this is a complete mess.

but generally, I don't see that things sync at all for me between iPhone and iPad

I've imported bookmarks from Firefox to Orion 0.99.131.0.1-beta on OS 15.3.1.

On my desktop, the Bookmarks Bar is set up as I like it, other bookmarks show up in the Bookmarks Menu.

I have set up iCloud sync for Orion, and made sure sync settings are exactly as described in your user manual. I've gone through and turned the sync settings off and back on, on every device. I've turned syncing for Orion off and back on in iCloud. I've rebooted all of my devices. Every setting is as it should be.

But still, my desktop bookmarks don't show up on any other device. If I can't get this working, then I can't use Orion.

I expect if settings are correct, then bookmarks will sync!

Same here. Been trying different fixes for the last couple of days and it seems to be a problem for everyone. Like I wrote on another post, this is the only thing that is keeping me from going all in with Kagi.

I signed up for an account just to post that this issue is the only barrier to making Orion my default browser as well.

Great work, Kagi/Orion team! I'm ready to commit once bookmark syncing is ironed out. Looking forward to it.

More than a year ago I switched 100%, with all the consequences, to Orion. I support it monthly with Orion Plus. The only reason I'm thinking of going back to Firefox is precisely because of the impossibility of synchronising bookmarks between all my devices. I'm going to wait a few months, and if this problem is not corrected, I will have to interrupt my commitment to this fantastic project that is Orion+Kagi. It would be a shame.

I'm also unable to sync Bookmarks or Tabs. I've tried toggling the switches, forcing sync, but nothing works.
