Can no longer install extensions on iOS with Lockdown Mode

Enable Lockdown Mode on iOS
Enable installing extensions in Orion
Go to extensions
Tap install Chrome extension
Select any extension in the Chrome Web Store (which renders a bit wonkily due to Lockdown Mode)
Tap add to Orion
Watch URL bar flicker briefly
No prompt appears to add the extension to Orion
Extension does not appear under Extensions
Downloads shows a failed download of a crx file

Not applicable to Safari (no Firefox/Chrome extension support)

Orion should prompt me to install the extension.

This seems like a recent bug since I was able to install SponsorBlock before. Unfortunately I do not remember which version that was.

Hi pseudonym thank you for taking the time to report this bug!

I have not been able to reproduce this bug on 1.3.18 (6). I have been able to install extensions from the Chrome web store, whether in Lockdown mode or not.

However what you show in the video looks like a different bug I've just fixed. The bug would not let a user install any chrom extension, and not show any error to the end user. This is due to the "Chrome Extensions" setting. A fix for this is on the way, but not yet published.
In the meantime, could you double check that "Chrome Extensions" are enabled under "Settings → Advanced"?

Thanks for looking into this! I think I fixed the issue. Chrome extensions was turned on, but your post did remind me that I had set my Downloads folder to a folder in iCloud Drive, so I tried changing the folder back to the standard folder. This fixed the issue and allowed me to install addons. After changing the Downloads folder back to the iCloud Drive folder, it continued to work.

A fix should be released in a future version to show an error when the download folder is unaccessible.
