I updated Orion yesterday, ever since its been crashing a lot. Everytime more than a few tabs get closed it will crash. And even if it doesn't tabs that were previously closed will reopen.

For Orion to not crash when tabs are closed, and for closed tabs to remain closed and not get reopened.

    same! mine's been crashing non-stop especially when I try to open links with shift click, thought it did seem to finally lessen up after disabling all my extensions which is less than ideal. might specifically be proton pass extension crashing it but I can't tell for sure.

      I came back to see how Orion is doing after giving up a year ago due to issues back then; feature wise looks much better than before but it crashing every 15 minutes due to memory access errors on Mac OSX might drive me away for another year…

        @osdiab @jugi @Aleexxx can you please share crash reports to help us fix those. We have received hundreds but there's no other info available to reproduce those.

        Also, if there's some steps to reproduce crashes, would help us to fix those faster.

        Some known crashes we have fixes ready:

        1. If you have focus mode enabled on fullscreen window and relaunch Orion
        2. If you have some web-extension enabled which uses storage.session API

          dino - do you know if the 1Password extension uses storage.session API? I don't have fully reproducible steps yet but the crashes I saw seemed to follow a pattern: 1Password extension began acting erratic, then Orion RC would crash.

              dino I've been sending all the crashes over, no idea what causes it, it just seems to explode randomly.

              I'll try removing 1Password as per teh other person's suggestion though besides that and Google Translate I didn't have any other extensions.

                  osdiab we will share a Dev build with the current fixes and see if that fixes your crashes or not

                      I just started using Orion yesterday, so I don't have long term experience. However, yesterday and today I have noticed a large amount of crashes and it's been driving me crazy. I almost want to switch back to my old browser, but because it seems like an update issue, I'll stick it out for now. For me, I mostly experience it when I have three tabs open, and oftentimes when I'm trying to do something like logging in on a modal and rapidly switching between tabs.

                        dino The times that it's crashed for me, I had any dialogue to submit a crash report. Is there another way to do it?

                            HurricaneAlex you can grab those from ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports directory and share all Orion specific ips files as zip, so we can start looking those on priority

                                dino That looks like an empty folder for me. Looks like there's an Orion file in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports, but it has a .diag extension.

                                    dino I installed the dev build this evening.

                                    • So far, no crashes - which is good.
                                    • But the 1Password extension only keeps its authentication for 5 minutes, even if I am actively using Orion RC the entire time. Then it requires reauthentication, with a note that "You're asked to re-enter your password because Chrome has an update available."

                                        OK, found a crash!

                                        1. Open my.1password.com in the dev build
                                        2. Fill in username, secret, password
                                        3. Connect Yubikey for 2FA
                                        4. Activate Yubikey when prompted

                                        I was able to reopen and successfully complete the login without crashing.

                                        Haven’t tried the dev build yet but uninstalled google translate and 1Password and hasn’t crashed for a few hours

                                          sparselogic I was experiencing that issue ("You're asked to re-enter your password because Chrome has an update available.") even with the current RC version which also was crashing. (Each time it crashed it would also lose any settings cookies config changes etc from when I opened Orion to the crash, so idk if that’s related though)
